Russia announced that its troops have captured another village in the western part of Donetsk region as they advance towards the neighboring Dnipropetrovsk region, AFP reported.
Moscow’s offensive against Ukraine has lasted for more than three years, with attacks intensifying this summer, while U.S.-led negotiations have so far failed to produce results to end the fighting.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that Russian forces seized the village of Myrne, using its Soviet name "Karl Marx." The village is located near the administrative border between Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
According to the ministry, Russian units have penetrated "deep into the enemy’s defense" to establish control over the village.
Myrne is one of two villages Moscow claimed on Sunday to have come under Russian control.
For months, Russia has refused a ceasefire proposal made by the United States and Kyiv.
