Turkey's exports rose 8% in June, reaching $20.5 billion, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat was quoted as saying by Sabah newspaper. He stressed that this was the largest annual increase in monthly exports since July 2024.
In the 12 months, the country's exports reached a historic high of 267 billion, marking an increase of 3.2% year-on-year.
At the same time, imports of goods increased by 15.3% compared to June 2024, reaching $28.7 billion, Bolat said. This led to a foreign trade deficit of $8.2 billion, with the import coverage of exports being 71.5%.
The minister pointed out at a press conference in Istanbul that the 8% growth was the highest in the last 12 months.
For the first half of the year (January-June), Turkish exports reached 131.4 billion, an increase of 4.1% year-on-year. Imports for the same period were 180.9 billion, an increase of 7.2%.
As a result, Turkey's foreign trade deficit for the first half of the year amounted to 49.43 billion dollars, with the import coverage of exports being 72.7%. | BGNES
