At the last stop of his European tour in Liverpool's Anfield Stadium on June 4, Bruce Springsteen again used the platform to complain about President Donald Trump's “regime,” Far Out magazine reported.
To a wave of applause before playing “Land of Hopes and Dreams,” Springsteen told the huge Merseyside audience, “The America that I wrote about and that was a beacon of hope and freedom for 250 years is now in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration.”
He continued, "Tonight we call on all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experience to rise with us, to raise our voices and stand against authoritarianism. Let freedom ring out."
When the tour passed through the Orange Velodrome in Marseille for another performance on May 31, he again rallied the crowd with his pro-democracy speech and lambasted Trump.
Remarkably, Springsteen was unfazed by Trump's social media responses, “I've never liked him, I've never liked his music, I've never liked his radical left-wing politics and, importantly, he's not a talented man - just a brash, disgusting...”
He also told Springsteen to “keep his mouth shut until he gets back to the country.” | BGNES
