“The Devil Wears Prada 2” starts filming

The sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada” will hit theaters on July 1, 2026.

Filming has begun on the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada.

The 2006 film, based on Lauren Weisberger's semi-autobiographical novel, stars Anne Hathaway as an ambitious journalist who starts working for the strict editor of Runway magazine, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). Now the cast has begun work on the second installment.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film has already “entered production” with filming planned in New York and Italy. Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci are also returning to their roles as Emily Charlton and Nigel.

In addition, the publication reported that Kenneth Branagh is joining the cast.

The news comes just weeks after Blunt, who played an overly ambitious employee at the fictional fashion magazine, hinted that filming would begin in July and that there could be “conflict” between her character and Streep's.

“[Streep and I are] so mean to each other in every movie we do. We always have conflicts. I don't know why. Hopefully we'll work it out. I'm not sure!” she told Entertainment Tonight.

But in reality, the actress admitted that she has no idea what her character Emily is doing at the moment, as she remained tight-lipped about revealing any plot details.

“I don't know. Where is [Emily]? I don't know. Do you understand that I'm avoiding the question? Do you understand that I'm not telling you anything?” she said.

Blunt also noted that she never imagined she would return to the role that launched her career nearly 20 years ago.

“No. Twenty years have gone by in a flash,” she said.
