VIP guests traveled by motorboat through Venice today as the three-day wedding celebration of Amazon magnate Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez began, while protesters held a demonstration in St. Mark's Square.

American reality TV stars Kim and Khloe Kardashian were photographed getting into taxis, followed by American talk show host Oprah Winfrey in an all-white outfit, including sneakers.

According to reports, 61-year-old Bezos and 55-year-old Sanchez have invited around 200 guests to their multi-million dollar wedding. It is expected to begin with an outdoor dinner at the 14th-century monastery of the Madonna del Orto church, AFP reported.

Sanchez, who arrived with Bezos on June 25, was spotted wearing a black dress with silver sequins. This is one of the 27 outfits she is expected to wear during the celebration.

Protesters, some wearing carnival masks, held a demonstration in St. Mark's Square, accusing the authorities of pandering to the super-rich while the city is suffocating from tourists.

As police dispersed the demonstration, Veneto regional president Luca Zaia said the couple had increased their donation to the city from one million to three million euros ($1.7 million to $3.5 million).

The wedding guests and their bodyguards moved up and down the lagoon, followed by paparazzi in boats hired at inflated prices by the world's media.

Water ski police patrolled the canals around the Madonna del Orto as the party hour approached.

Among the guests spotted were Jordan's Queen Rania, British actor Orlando Bloom, American football player Tom Brady, Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump, and American fashion designer Spencer Antle. | BGNES
