Albanian Parliament Speaker Elisa Spiropali: The project “Serbian World” is dangerous for the region

Albania invites Bulgaria to join the trilateral alliance, which also includes Croatia and Kosovo. This initiative does not contradict NATO principles.

“Regarding the “Serbian World” initiative of President Aleksandar Vučić, I would like to state that any step that looks back, relies on rhetoric from the past that could be worrying and sounds worrying for both Kosovo and Albania”.

This was stated by the Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Elisa Spiropali, in response to a question from BGNES on whether the “Serbian World” initiative poses a security problem for Albania and the Balkans.

“It is in our interest to achieve progress in the bilateral negotiations for mutual recognition between Serbia and Kosovo, as well as progress and opening the way for Kosovo to move forward, to preserve peace in the Balkans and ensure stability in the region and beyond,” Ms. Spiropali emphasized.

She stated that Tirana wants to help Pristina become a member of NATO and integrate more quickly into the alliance, as well as into some other international organizations.

The Speaker of the Albanian Parliament also highlighted the trilateral alliance recently concluded between Albania, Croatia, and Kosovo.

When asked by BGNES about its significance for security in the region, Elisa Spiropali pointed out that NATO's charter as an organization provides for regional initiatives within its framework in the format chosen in this case. “This is not against anyone, it is for something,” she added.

Elisa Spiropali stated that this trilateral initiative is not exactly trilateral. “We invite Bulgaria to join, as well as any other country that shares the same values and looks in the same direction,” she added. І BGNES
