10-men Benfica held off Fenerbahce in Istanbul

Everything between the two teams will be decided in Lisbon next week.

Fenerbahce and Benfica finished 0:0 in the first leg of the Champions League play-offs.

In Istanbul, the two teams offered a tough battle with chances in front of both goals. The visitors eventually held on to a draw after being reduced to ten men in the 71st minute after Florentino Luis was shown two quick yellow cards.

Thus, everything between the two teams will be decided in the second leg in Lisbon in a week.

Two of the remaining three matches on Wednesday night also ended in draws, with Basel - FC Copenhagen (1:1) and Celtic - Kairat Almaty (0:0) failing to produce a winner. Bodoe/Glimt practically sealed their place in the league phase after thrashing Sturm Graz 5:0 in Norway. | BGNES
