Russian forces fired over 500 drones and missiles at Ukraine in a large-scale attack, mainly targeting the western part of the country, which led to power outages, Ukrainian officials said.
The attack came as British Defense Minister John Healey arrived in Ukraine for security cooperation talks, according to his Ukrainian counterpart.
The head of the northern region of Chernihiv, Vyacheslav Chaus, said that 30,000 people were left without power after drones struck "civilian infrastructure," AFP reported.
The Ukrainian Air Force said Moscow had fired 502 drones and 24 missiles, while regional officials in the western part of the country said several people had been injured and residential buildings and civilian infrastructure had been damaged.
"Three missiles and 69 strike drones hit 14 locations, and debris from the downed projectiles fell on 14 locations," the Air Force added.
Officials in the Kirovograd region said four railway workers were injured in the attack and more than a dozen residential buildings were damaged.
Russia has been firing air drones and missiles at Ukraine almost every night since it launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022, sparking the deadliest conflict in Europe since World War II. | BGNES
