A total of 82.95% of administrative structures in Bulgaria have adapted their information systems to work with the euro. This is shown by data from a web-based platform for monitoring and reporting on the progress of state structures in introducing the single European currency https://evro.egov.bg/. 516 out of a total of 521 administrative bodies have submitted their plans and completed the adaptation process.
The Ministry of Electronic Governance plays a key role in preparing the public sector for the introduction of the euro. The main focus of this activity is the adaptation of all information systems that process financial information and work with currency values, both at national and local level.
To ensure transparency and effective control, the Ministry of Electronic Governance has provided a publicly accessible online platform for monitoring the progress of each administrative structure. All authorities have drawn up their own adaptation plans, and progress is reported every two weeks. The Ministry of Economy and Energy has also developed specific guidelines for the smooth and most cost-effective adaptation of systems for working with the euro.
The platform upholds the principles of full transparency, publicity, and traceability of processes. Citizens can monitor the progress of each administrative body through its information system. The system publishes summary and detailed reports that allow monitoring of the overall progress in the implementation of the National Plan for the Introduction of the Euro in the Republic of Bulgaria.
To date, all administrative bodies are included in the scope of monitoring, as well as the Administration of the President, the Administration of the National Assembly, the Ombudsman, the Court of Auditors, the Supreme Judicial Council, and the Inspectorate to the Supreme Judicial Council (a total of 602 structures). Of these, 516 administrative structures have systems that process financial information and have taken steps to adapt them for working with the euro. There are still five administrations that have not started preparatory activities: the municipalities of Bozhurishte, Pomorie, and Panagyurishte, as well as the Northern District of Plovdiv and the Novi Iskar District of Sofia.
At present, the progress of the administrations stands at 82.79%, compared to 39.69% at the end of March, representing an increase of over 43% in just two months. This means that 1,709 information systems, or 80.12% of the total 2,133 systems, have already successfully passed tests for working with the euro, which is a serious indicator of technical readiness. Just over 420 systems are still being adapted to work with the euro, which will be completed before the deadline.
According to the law, all systems processing financial information must be fully adapted at least three months before the introduction of the euro. Therefore, as of October 1, the Ministry of Economy and Energy will begin conducting in-depth checks on compliance with the requirements of the Law on the Introduction of the Euro in the Republic of Bulgaria. | BGNES
