Beyoncé expressed her special gratitude to Paul McCartney after finishing her Cowboy Carter tour with six concerts at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London last night.
"Thank you, Sir Paul McCartney, for writing one of the best songs ever written. Every time I sing it, I feel so flattered,“ the singer wrote, referring to The Beatles' ”Blackbird," which is included as a cover on her Grammy-winning country album Cowboy Carter (2024).
In the post, the singer is wearing a white shirt with two black birds, designed by McCartney's daughter, fashion designer Stella McCartney. “This is a moment when the circle is complete, when I wear your beautiful daughter's design,” Beyoncé added.
“Thank you, London, for creating unforgettable memories for me and my family,” she wrote, promising, “When I come back on tour, I will say hello!”
In 2024, Paul McCartney compliments Beyoncé's cover of “Blackbird” in his Instagram post.
“I'm so happy with Beyoncé's version of my song ‘Blackbird’. I think she does a magnificent version and reinforces the message of civil rights that inspired me to write the song,” McCartney wrote.
“Blackbird” was written by Paul for The Beatles' 1968 double album of the same name, commonly referred to as “The White Album.”
McCartney said that the Little Rock Nine, a group of African-American students who faced severe difficulties assimilating into the all-white Little Rock Central High School in 1957, served as his inspiration.
Beyoncé gives the song her own twist, and the title “Blackbird” refers to Cowboy Carter's “Act II” motif. | BGNES
