Sydney Sweeney: I love challenging roles

The 27-year-old film star revealed that she craves new challenges in her career.

Sydney Sweeney loves to “challenge” herself as an actress.

The 27-year-old film star has enjoyed a brilliant career in recent years, becoming one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood. Sydney revealed that she craves new challenges in her career.

“In general, if something scares me, I usually do it because it means I'm challenging myself,” Sweeney said in an interview with W Magazine.

However, she admitted that she suffers from stage fright.

"I have really bad stage fright. I'm getting better now, but I have enormous respect for anyone who does theater or live television talk shows. Both scare me," the actress explained.

On the other hand, Sydney has no qualms about showing a little skin for her roles on screen.

“I'm not worried [about filming nude scenes]. I think the female body is a very powerful thing. I'm telling my character's story, so I have to tell it well and do what needs to be done,” said the movie star.

Sweeney plays Christy Martin, a former professional boxer, in an upcoming biopic, and David Michôd, the film's director and co-writer, recalled the actress as a “ray of sunshine” on set.

"Martin made women's boxing popular in the mid-90s. She was the first female boxer on the cover of Sports Illustrated and fought in Mike Tyson's undercard. Her husband was also her coach, and after her success, he tried to kill her. Our film is a wild mix of an inspiring story about outsiders in the world of sports and a personal saga," David said.

"Sydney trained hard to play the role. The beauty of Sydney is that she came to work every day with a smile on her face, ready for action. No matter how difficult it was, she was like a ray of sunshine," he said.

The director admitted that her appearance on screen is in stark contrast to her “charming” public image.

"I had never seen her in Euphoria. I recently spoke to her on FaceTime when Sydney was in the makeup room for the show, and I was amazed at the change in her appearance. I had only seen her as a charming, strong girl with a late-80s hairstyle, ready to box. Sydney was happiest when she was in the ring, hitting and being hit. It was shocking to see her so glamorous," he said. | BGNES
