He was the unconventional doctor who loved to confound the medical community with his brilliant, unorthodox diagnoses.
Dr. Gregory House, the misanthropic genius who starred in the long-running television series “House,” made many mistakes himself, according to Croatian doctors.
From a neurologist who incorrectly performs a colonoscopy on a patient to an MRI scan done by a doctor who is clearly not a radiologist, Croatian researchers criticize the American series for its inaccuracies in medical knowledge in an article published this month.
Denis Cherimagic, a professor at the University of Dubrovnik, and two fellow neurologists—all big fans of the show—listed 77 mistakes after analyzing all 177 episodes of the series, which aired from 2004 to 2012.
“We focused on the diagnoses of the main cases, the realism of the presentation of clinical practice, and the detection of medical errors,” Cerimagić told AFP.
He and his colleagues, Goran Ivkic and Ervin Bilic, divided the errors into five categories, including incorrect use of medical terminology, inaccurate information, and some oddities — something the show's antihero, played by British star Hugh Laurie, had in abundance. | BGNES
