Filming of the series "Emily in Paris" has resumed after the death of assistant director Diego Borella.
The hit Netflix show suspended filming after the assistant director collapsed and died at the Danieli Hotel in Venice on August 21.
However, members of the show's cast — including Lily Collins, Eugenio Franceschini, Ashley Park, and Paul Forman — were spotted by People magazine returning to the set in Venice.
The actors and crew had been filming the fifth season of the series in recent weeks. However, filming was halted after Borella's death at the age of 47.
A representative for Paramount Television Studios said earlier: "It is with deep sadness that we confirm the sudden death of a member of the Emily in Paris production team. We extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased at this extremely difficult time."
Borella, who studied in Rome, London, and New York, had been in Italy in recent weeks to work on the upcoming season of the series.
The official synopsis gave a glimpse into the fifth season of Emily in Paris.
The synopsis reads: "Just when everything is falling into place, a work idea backfires on her, and the consequences lead to a broken heart and career setbacks. In search of stability, Emily turns to her French lifestyle, while a big secret threatens one of her closest relationships. By dealing with the conflict honestly, Emily emerges with deeper connections, renewed clarity, and a willingness to embrace new opportunities."
Darren Star, the series creator, also revealed details about the new season, confirming that Emily "will not be leaving Paris."
The 64-year-old television writer, who also created series such as Melrose Place, Beverly Hills, 90210, and Sex and the City, explained to Deadline last year: "She hasn't changed her Instagram profile to Emily in Rome. She sometimes works in Rome. Sylvie's company has an office in Rome. Emily is involved in that. I don't think that means a permanent move to Rome — in my eyes, it's definitely not a permanent move. We're not leaving Paris." | BGNES
