For Henry Golding, taking on the famous role of James Bond may be more of a nightmare than a dream, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“I think it's every actor's nightmare,” the Old Guard 2 actor said during the film's premiere in Los Angeles this week. His comments about the famous movie character came after Denis Villeneuve was announced as the next director of the series, the first from Amazon MGM Studios.
“But at the same time, [you want] to add something new to the franchise,” Golding added. “Why can't they introduce more agents or more zeros? I think that would be a lot more fun because there are just no limits and no expectations.”
The “Crazy Rich Asians” star added: “Maybe I'm just scared. I don't know. But I think I would enjoy it a lot more if there wasn't that pressure from the culture.”
Following the news that Villeneuve has been chosen as the next James Bond director, speculation has been rife about which actor will take on the lead role. All that is known so far is that Tanya Lapointe, Villeneuve's artistic partner and wife, will be executive producer alongside Amy Pascal and David Heyman.
"Some of my earliest memories of going to the movies are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, starting with Dr. No with Sean Connery. I am a huge Bond fan. For me, it's sacred territory. I intend to honor the tradition and open the door to many new missions,“ Villeneuve said in a statement. ”It's a huge responsibility, but it's also incredibly exciting for me and a great honor." |BGNES
