Joe Perry of Aerosmith announces tour and new band lineup

The former Aerosmith guitarist announced the news on May 6 on Instagram, explaining that he will be performing concerts in August this year alongside his bandmates.

Joe Perry has announced a series of concerts in North America this summer with his Joe Perry Project, which features other rock stars as a backing band, Far Out reported.

The former Aerosmith guitarist announced the news on May 6 on Instagram, explaining that he will be performing concerts in August this year with his bandmates - guitarist Brad Whitford and guitarist Buck Johnson, Stone Temple Pilots bassist Robert De Leo and drummer Eric Kratz, as well as Chris Robinson from Black Crowes on vocals.

Since several of the new band members also played on Perry's latest solo album, Sweetzerland Manifesto, the guitarist wrote: "Well, it's time for the music to speak again. I'm very excited about this year's JPP lineup!!!!"

"Most of these guys played with me at the Roxy in Los Angeles on the debut of my last solo album [Sweetzerland Manifesto] in January 2018. They're all very busy, but luckily they were able to steal some time for this tour," Perry continued.

"The setlist will include my favorite JPP, STP, and Black Crowes songs, and Brad and I will play some Aero hits and some lesser-known songs, and then...who knows!!!! It's going to be AWESOME, and if you've been to any of my shows, you know that the words 'GARAGE BAND ON STEROIDS' come to mind! See you there!!!!" he added.

The short tour will include eight concerts, starting on August 13 in Tampa, Florida, and ending in Port Chester, New York, on August 23.

Tickets for the Joe Perry Project tour will go on sale on May 9 on the guitarist's website. | BGNES
