Kylie Minogue has scored another hit in the United Kingdom—but this time with wine. The pop queen's rosé is the best-selling premium brand in the UK, according to the Daily Star.
Every six seconds, somewhere in the world, a bottle of her wine is sold. 57-year-old Kylie is at the height of her success after selling over 20 million bottles of wine bearing her name in five years.
But the singer of “I Should Be So Lucky” admitted that at first she wasn't sure whether to just put her name on Kylie Minogue Wines (KMW).
She said: “There was no interest for me in just putting a label on a bottle. It had to be authentic, and I can proudly say that we have never strayed from that. I was eager to learn something new about the industry, and I have been on a tasting journey ever since.”
Kylie revealed that she is so passionate about her prosecco that she visited the winery in Italy where it is produced.
She shared, “I'm so proud of what we've achieved in five years, not knowing how it would be received by the wine industry and consumers. We planted a seed that sprouted, and then it was all about making sure it took root in the ground... and just nurturing what we have.”
The Australian-born star recalled the moment in 2017 when she decided to go into wine.
She said: "There was this beautiful, soft amber light shining through the window, and I said out loud, 'I would love to have my own rosé one day. Three years later, I achieved it. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, I just knew it felt right."
Kylie is currently touring the United Kingdom with concerts at The O2 in London, so she is sticking to the non-alcoholic version.
“We had concerts and one of my backup singers was breastfeeding, another had a small child, others just don't drink, so I really wanted KMW to include wine with 0% alcohol,” she added. | BGNES
