Thousands filled the streets of Birmingham to say goodbye to Ozzy Osbourne

The music legend's family, including his widow, Sharon Osbourne, got out of the car on the Black Sabbath Bridge to lay flowers.

Thousands of people filled the streets of Birmingham during the funeral procession of Black Sabbath legend Ozzy Osbourne, the BBC reports.

The music legend's family, including his widow, Sharon Osbourne, got out of the car on the Black Sabbath Bridge to lay flowers. At the same time, the crowd chanted, "Ozzy, Ozzy."

In addition to being Ozzy's devoted wife of more than 40 years, Sharon is also his manager and probably his biggest fan.

During the promotion for his last concert at Villa Park a few weeks ago, she was by his side - appearing at events around town, giving interviews and talking to fans.

BGNES recalls that Ozzy Osbourne died at the age of 76 on July 22. Osbourne was one of rock's most famous and infamous figures - an innovator with a distinctively sinister vocal who helped give birth to heavy metal, a showman who once bit the head off a bat on stage, a drug and alcohol addict to the point of trying to kill his wife, and later a favorite of TV viewers on the reality show "The Osbournes."

His death occurred less than three weeks after his retirement from the stage. On July 5, Ozzy reunited with the original members of Black Sabbath for the first time since 2005 for a farewell "Back to the Beginning" concert in Birmingham, an event featuring big names from the metal scene. "I've been bedridden for six years and you have no idea how I feel," he told the crowd, referring to his health problems, including a form of Parkinson's and multiple spinal surgeries. "Thank you from the bottom of my heart." | BGNES
