The White House has called the “liberal outrage” over an American Eagle jeans ad featuring actress Sydney Sweeney “idiotic” and “a reason for Americans to vote for Trump.”

White House communications director Stephen Chung has slammed the left’s reaction to the ad, which read, “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans,” a play on the word “genes.” This has drawn sharp criticism from some liberal circles, who have accused the campaign of glorifying whiteness and the actress’s frail physique.

“Another manifestation of the unstoppable cancel culture,” Chung wrote on the X platform. “This twisted, idiotic, and narrow-minded liberal mindset is one of the main reasons Americans voted the way they did in 2024. They’ve had enough of this nonsense.”

In the commercial, Sweeney says, “Genes are passed down from parents to their children and often determine traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color. My jeans are blue.”

Conservative TV host Megyn Kelly also slammed the backlash against Sweeney, calling the campaign against her “absurd.”

“They’re calling her a white supremacist because of that American Eagle ad,” Kelly said. “She’s advertising jeans, but the leftists are saying it’s an ad for white supremacy. Obviously, it’s her body, not her skin color — but what can you do, the crazy left is the crazy left.”

Kelly added,

“They’re angry because it was about who got to be the face of ‘Best American Genes.’ They think it’s no coincidence that they chose a white, thin woman — because, in their opinion, that’s not something that should be celebrated anymore. "But they completely ignore the fact that it's about her figure, which she's known for. Just absurd." | BGNES
