A new attempt to elect a president of the Kosovo parliament

The constitution of the assembly was not completed because the candidate of the winning party for the presidency, Self-Determination, Albulena Haxhiu, failed to get the necessary votes.

Kosovo lawmakers are meeting today to continue preparations to form a new government, more than two months after parliamentary elections on 9 February, reports RSE.

The session, which was adjourned on Saturday (19.04), will resume at 3 p.m. today, with the election of a president and a deputy president on the agenda.

The constitution of the assembly was not completed because the candidate of the winning party for the presidency, Self-Determination, Albulena Haxhiu, failed to get the necessary votes.

The first session on 15 April and its continuation on 17 April were interrupted at the outset when the report of the Quorum and Credentials Verification Committee was not voted on due to procedural disagreements between the political parties.

She is expected to be nominated again as Speaker of Parliament at today's sitting, but it is not clear whether she has the necessary votes. | BGNES
