Autumn session of Bulgarian Parliament begins

The Bulgarian parliament began its autumn session after the recess.

MPs began their working day with political statements expressing support for the government from some of the parties, while the opposition said it would table a vote of no confidence against the institutions it controls, a BGNES reporter said.

The only alternative to the government today is chaos, irresponsibility, and deadlock, said the largest parliamentary force, GERB-SDS. "GERB will continue to bear responsibility for governing the country because we are aware of the difficulties," said MP Toma Bikov.

He expects Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov's government to organize a smooth transition to the euro. Bulgaria must adopt the single European currency on January 1, 2026.

Nadezhda Yordanova, an MP from the largest opposition coalition, "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria," said that they will table a vote of no confidence in the government because of the seized institutions. "The development of a modern state means the rule of law within the framework of Bulgaria's European path," Yordanova added. І BGNES
