Carney to Trump: Canada is not for sale and never will be

Trump said if Canada becomes the 51st U.S. state, it would be a "wonderful marriage."

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney told US President Donald Trump that Canada is "not for sale". The prime minister's words came during his visit to Washington.

"As you know from real estate, there are places that never sell. The White House and Buckingham Palace are not, and Canada is not for sale and never will be," Carney said, and the U.S. president countered him by saying, "Never say never."

Trump said if Canada becomes the 51st U.S. state, it would be a "wonderful marriage." On the tariffs imposed on Canada, the Republican said nothing could make him repeal them.

"We really don't want cars from Canada. We don't want steel from Canada because we make it ourselves," the president said. | BGNES
