Ilie Bolojan was elected Prime Minister of Romania

Until recently, he served as interim president.

The interim leader of Romania's National Liberal Party (PNL), Ilie Bolojan, has been elected prime minister of the country. He was nominated by the newly elected president, Nicușor Dăncilă.

On June 19, the head of state held consultations with the parties and political groups represented in parliament to determine a candidate for the post of prime minister.

The 56-year-old politician will be tasked with tackling Romania's difficult financial situation and reconciling the divided country.

Until recently, he served as interim president.

During the ceremony, the president said that “Ilie Bologan is the right person to make the necessary changes in Romania's state apparatus.”

At the Cotroceni Palace, the head of state emphasized that Bologan had proven in his previous public positions that he “knows how to reduce and rationalize spending,” according to Agerpres.

“He is the most suitable person and I am ready to support him,” the president said. | BGNES
