Trump Organization has announced that it is launching a new mobile service, expanding the family's business empire while Donald Trump himself holds the office of US president.

The new service, called T1 Mobile, will offer a “47 Plan” – a reference to Trump being the 47th president of the country. Trump Mobile will operate as a virtual operator, using the infrastructure of US telecommunications giants Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile.

The monthly fee for a 5G subscription will be $47.45, which is lower than the prices of leading operators but higher than those of smaller providers such as Boost Mobile or Cricket.

Starting in August, the company will also begin selling its own smartphone for $499, according to the T1 Mobile website, which emphasizes that the device is “proudly designed and manufactured in the United States.” There is no official information yet about the subcontractors involved in the phone's production.

The mobile project is the latest step in the diversification of the family business. In early 2021, Donald Trump established Trump Media and Technology Group, which operates the social network Truth Social and plans new investment products.

In September 2024, the Trump family backed the cryptocurrency platform World Liberty Financial, which offers stable digital currencies pegged to the dollar. And just hours before taking office in January, Trump launched his own meme coin cryptocurrency, $TRUMP.

The Trump administration has dismissed allegations of conflict of interest, saying the president's business ventures are transparent. But critics, including lawmakers and civil rights groups, warn that these projects could become a channel for foreign influence. | BGNES
