Trump wants to name May 8th and November 11th as "Victory Days"

May 8th , widely celebrated in Western Europe, is not an official holiday in the US.

US President Donald Trump has announced his intention to rename the anniversaries of the end of the two world wars, May 8th  and November 11th , as "Victory Days."
"I am renaming May 8 as Victory Day in World War II and November 11 as Victory Day in World War I," Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, quoted by AFP.
May 8th , widely celebrated in Western Europe (Russia celebrates it on May 9th ), is not an official holiday in the US. November 11th  is a public holiday and has so far been called Veterans Day in honor of former soldiers.
"Many of our allies and friends celebrate May 8th  as Victory Day, but we did more than any other country, by far, to achieve victory in World War II," Trump continued.
"We won both wars, no one could match us in strength, courage or military genius, but we never celebrate anything - because we no longer have leaders who know how to do it!" the president lamented.
"We will start celebrating our victories again!" he promised.
However, this statement was not immediately followed by the announcement of an executive order. | BGNES
