Since the very beginning of the war, Bulgaria has supported Ukraine consistently and unwaveringly. This support will continue during the post-war reconstruction of the country, as it is of great importance not only for Ukraine itself but also for the prosperity of the entire region and Europe.
This was stated by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov during his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The two spoke in Rome during the 4th High-Level Conference on the Recovery of Ukraine.
Zhelyazkov expressed Bulgaria’s readiness to make a positive contribution in all sectors where its assistance is needed, in accordance with its capacities.
He specifically highlighted Bulgaria’s extensive experience and potential in the fields of construction and infrastructure.
Zhelyazkov also emphasized Bulgaria’s key role in the Black Sea region—its strategic position places the country at the center of various initiatives for the security of ports and maritime navigation.
During the meeting, Zhelyazkov and Zelensky discussed energy cooperation between Bulgaria and Ukraine. The two countries will work toward deepening their partnership in the energy sector. Particular emphasis was placed on energy connectivity, diversification of sources, and the need for a joint approach to address challenges, especially during the winter months. | BGNES
