An earthquake of magnitude 5 was recorded in the area of Crete

According to the Geodynamic Institute's revised decision, the epicentre was located 31 km east-northeast of Zakros, in Lasithi. The depth of the outbreak is estimated at 7.8 kilometres.

An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale was recorded at 8:46 p.m. on July 7 in a maritime area east of the Greek island of Crete, Kathimerini reported.

According to the Geodynamic Institute's revised decision, the epicentre was located 31 km east-northeast of Zakros, in Lasithi. The depth of the outbreak is estimated at 7.8 kilometres.

The tremor was felt in areas of Lasithi prefecture, but no damage or casualties have been reported so far.
