At the rate at which journalists are being killed by the Israeli army, soon there will be no one left to inform us about the tragedy in Gaza

In line with the appeal launched in June by Reporters Without Borders and the Committee to Protect Journalists, the media outlets involved in this campaign are making three demands.

Hundreds of media outlets, united by the initiative of Reporters Without Borders, are calling for the protection of Palestinian journalists in Gaza. They are also calling for the urgent evacuation of those who wish to leave. The organization condemns Israel's impunity for crimes against reporters and calls for independent access for the international press to this territory.

According to Reporters Without Borders, 220 journalists have been killed by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip over the past 23 months. On the night of August 10-11, the Israeli army killed six journalists in a targeted attack on Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif.

On August 25, the Israeli army killed five journalists in two attacks. Hundreds of media outlets from around 50 countries, united by an initiative of Reporters Without Borders and Avaaz, are mobilizing today in solidarity with Palestinian journalists in the Gaza Strip.

This international mobilization is marked by wholly or partially black front pages of newspapers, banners on online news sites, and audio or video messages broadcast on radio and television.

In line with the appeal launched in June by Reporters Without Borders and the Committee to Protect Journalists, the media outlets involved in this campaign are making three demands.

Together, we condemn the killing of journalists by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip and demand an end to impunity for crimes committed against reporters.

Together, we demand that Palestinian journalists who wish to do so be allowed to evacuate urgently.

Together, we demand that the Israeli authorities allow independent access to the international press in the Gaza Strip.

Eight days before the opening of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, we demand decisive action from the international community and call on the UN Security Council to stop the crimes of the Israeli army against Palestinian journalists. I BGNES
