After the meeting with local authorities, the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria announced that it would declare an indefinite strike, a reporter for BGNES reports.
"We held talks for three hours, but no negotiations took place. That is why there is nothing new to offer from the management of the Sofia Municipality. The position is the same as when we entered the talks. The two sides are in exactly the same position. The blockades remain in place. In a short while, we will visit the individual units and companies to talk to union members and decide on our next steps," said KNSB Vice President Todor Kapitanov.
He explained that, in addition to blockades, they would also initiate a procedure to declare indefinite strike action: "Today, the demands will be submitted to all individual companies and we will enter into a strike procedure."
He said that they had presented their demands and calculations to Mayor Terziev, as he had requested earlier, but during the talks, not the negotiations, it was made clear that there would be no new proposal to the protesters.
"The mayor and his team are firmly convinced that there is nothing that can be done. Our calculations show otherwise. During the talks, it was made clear that there would be no new offer to the protesters. Our demands remain for a 300 leva increase in salaries," said Kapitanov.
He announced that a petition had already been started among metro employees and, depending on the will of the people, 50%+1 of the total number of employees are needed to enter into this legal strike procedure. "Everything depends on what our colleagues decide today and in the coming days," Kapitanov said. І BGNES
