As a sign of support for Nikolina Sindželić, who publicly spoke to the media about police violence after participating in the protests in Belgrade, a protest rally was held in Obrenovac at the initiative of local high school students.
The demonstration was called "Ima nas ipak više" ("There are still more of us"), and the organizers - a group of students - wanted to show that the support for Nikolina was greater than that of a previous counter-protest in the city.
Earlier that day, an "anti-blockade" rally was also organized in Obrenovac, called by the regime of Aleksandar Vučić and the Serbian Progressive Party, and units of the gendarmerie were deployed on the streets.
This is not the first protest in support of Nikolina Sindželić, a student at the Faculty of Political Science in Belgrade. She said that on August 14, after participating in a protest, she was hit and threatened with rape by Marko Kricka, commander of a special police unit.
In recent days, several demonstrations have been held under the slogan "Sve smo mi Nikolina" ("We are all Nikolina"). At one of them - in Belgrade, on August 19 - protesters demanded Kricka's resignation and an immediate investigation into him and his colleagues for abuse of power, violence and torture of detainees.
Police Director Dragan Vasilević also spoke out on the case, stating that there are no results from the inspection of the Internal Control Sector of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or other state bodies so far. | BGNES
