A protest march was held in the western Serbian city of Užice, while in Novi Sad, citizens organized a symbolic bicycle rally on July 14.
In front of the city hall in Užice, residents of the city who had been released from custody earlier in the day took the floor. They are suspected of assaulting an official during a blockade of a main road in the area. After considering appeals from their lawyers, the court in Užice released seven of the detainees, while two others were placed under house arrest.
Meanwhile, in Novi Sad, protesters gathered on bicycles to block key intersections in the city.
The event was held in silence and included a walk past the railway station, where 16 people died on November 1, 2024.
The latest demand of the protesting students is to schedule early parliamentary elections, which the regime of Aleksandar Vucic rejects. | BGNES
