Strong earthquake of 6.2 magnitude shook Western Turkey

It was followed by two aftershocks with magnitudes of 5 and 5.3 on the Richter scale.

A powerful earthquake of 6.2 on the Richter scale has shaken Western Turkey, the European Seismological Centre reported.

The earthquake was felt in western Turkey, southern, southeastern and eastern Bulgaria, mostly in the area of Tsarevo, Malko Tarnovo and the southern parts of Burgas region. So far there are no reports of casualties.

The earthquake had its epicentre 26 km south of the town of Silivri in our southern neighbour, near the Istanbul area. The earthquake was felt at 12.49 local time, with a depth of 6 km.
