The New York Times has signed an agreement with Amazon that will allow the daily newspaper's content to be used to train artificial intelligence models.
Several media groups have already signed similar agreements with major technology companies, but The New York Times had so far refused.
The newspaper is suing Amazon's competitor, OpenAI, which it accuses of copyright infringement for using its content to train the generative AI chatbot ChatGPT without permission.
Amazon is adding the technology to its Alexa voice assistant, and the deal opens the door for the use of American media content by Alexa and related devices. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. | BGNES
