George Clooney is the biggest optimist when it comes to the future of the United States.
Clooney and Broadway legend Patti LuPone chatted with each other for Variety's "Actors for Actors" series, where the pair discussed a myriad of topics, including President Donald Trump.
Lupone asked the politically outspoken Clooney what he thought of the current occupant of the White House.
"It's funny because he's just a New York beast and we've all known him for 30 years when he was just a guy chasing women," Clooney said. "That's fine. We'll deal with that."
"I feel like everything's going to be fine, we'll get through this," Clooney said. "Eventually we find our better angels, that's the way it's been every other time and I think it will again. I'm optimistic about it all."
"I'm very glad you're (optimistic - ed.)," Lupone said after a heavy sigh. "That gives me hope."
Clooney, who is currently starring in the Broadway production of "Good Night, and Good Luck," added that he also believes Democrats will take back the majority in the House of Representatives in the midterm elections.
A longtime Democrat, the "Ocean's Gang" star said he hopes new leadership will emerge in the party.
"We need to find people who represent us better and who have a sense of humor. Who have a sense of purpose," he said, adding that he believes in Maryland Gov. Wes Moore. "I think he's going to be a real force in the next election." | BGNES
