Taylor Swift has been granted a temporary restraining order against an alleged stalker who reportedly visited her home and claimed to have a child with her.
It is alleged that 45-year-old Brian Jason Wagner of Colorado traveled to Swift's home in Los Angeles multiple times between July 2024 and May of this year.
Swift stated in a court filing that during each of these visits, "I was informed that Wagner made various statements that he lives on my property (not true), that he is in a relationship with me (not true), that he believes I am the mother of his son (not true), and that he needs to see me in person, all of which statements are false and detached from reality."
In one case, he allegedly held a glass bottle that Swift said “could have been used as a weapon.” The singer said the visits made her “fear for my safety and that of my family,” The Guardian reported.
Wagner must stay at least 91 meters away from Taylor. A more permanent order may be issued after a hearing on June 30.
Over the years, the American star has faced numerous stalkers. In 2017, 29-year-old Mohamed Jaffar was sent to a psychiatric facility in New York after making dozens of calls to Swift's management company and then entering her apartment building in Tribeca. In 2018, Roger Alvarado broke into her home, used her shower, and slept in her bed. He was jailed for nine months and then sentenced to a longer term after another break-in. That same year, Julius Sandrock was arrested after traveling more than 1,000 miles to Taylor's home, where ammunition, a knife, rope, and gloves were found in his car.
In the years that followed, six people were convicted of stalking Swift, including an incident in 2020 in which a man crashed his car into her apartment building and tried to break in.
Last week, she announced that she had bought back the rights to her first six albums. In 2019, they were sold by her first record label, Big Machine, to music manager Scooter Braun, who in turn sold them to a private investment company. Taylor responded with a project to re-record the albums, generating huge sales with each release.
The terms of the new deal have not been disclosed. Upon its announcement, Swift said: “All I ever wanted was the opportunity to work hard enough to one day be able to buy my music back without any strings attached, no partnerships, with complete autonomy.” | BGNES
