Haribo withdrew its “Happy Cola” candy from the market in the Netherlands after cannabis was found in the contents of several packages and several people, including children, felt ill.

The Food and Consumer Product Safety Agency said that only three packages of “Happy Cola F!ZZ” were affected, but as a precautionary measure, all products have been withdrawn from the market.

“Packages of candy are in circulation that may cause health complaints such as dizziness when consumed,” the statement said.

Police are investigating how the cannabis ended up in the candy packages.

“The safety of our consumers is our top priority and Haribo takes this incident very seriously,” Patrick Tacks, vice president of marketing at Haribo, told AFP. | BGNES
