The US government intends to cancel all remaining financial agreements with Harvard.
This was announced by a senior official in Donald Trump's administration, AFP reported.

"The administration will send a letter today to federal agencies asking them to identify all contracts with Harvard and indicate whether they can be canceled or redirected elsewhere," said the official, who wished to remain anonymous.

The termination of the contracts, which are estimated to be worth $100 million according to US media, will mean the end of business ties between the government and an institution that is both the oldest university in the country and a global scientific powerhouse.

The Trump administration accuses the Cambridge, Massachusetts, university of allowing anti-Semitism and widespread liberal attitudes.

Harvard has rejected orders to allow a series of extraordinary measures, including an audit of political attitudes on campus and a ban on students deemed "hostile to American values."

Over the past few weeks, the elite educational bastion has seen billions of dollars in federal subsidies frozen and an attempt—stopped on May 23 by a court ruling—to end its ability to accept foreign students.

The university is fighting back, arguing that Trump's attacks are unconstitutional and would cripple its ability to function. | BGNES
