Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said he "expects nothing" from the visit of European Commissioner for Enlargement Marth Cos and that he would like "more objectivity" from the European Union (EU).
"As far as Marth Cos is concerned, it is good that representatives of the European Union are coming because Serbia is on its European path. I believe that progress on the regulatory agency, media laws, and OSCE recommendations will contribute to Serbia's further progress on its European path," Vučić said, as quoted by RSE.
"What do I personally expect? I don't expect anything. I hope for a little more objectivity from the people in Brussels," he added.
Marta Kos is coming to Serbia on April 29 for a two-day visit, at a time of political crisis that began six months ago after the collapse of a railway station canopy in Novi Sad, killing 16 people, and the ensuing anti-corruption protests, first by students and then by mass civil rallies.
Vučić announced that he would attend the parade in Moscow on May 9 at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, despite warnings from Brussels that this would mean blocking Serbia's European integration. | BGNES
