An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 struck the Marmaris area in southwestern Turkey. One teenager was killed and dozens were injured, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said.
A 14-year-old girl died after a panic attack and about 70 people were injured in the province of Mugla as they rushed to find safety, Yerlikaya wrote on Twitter.
There are no initial reports of damaged buildings, AFP reported.
The earthquake struck at 2:17 a.m. local time about 10 km off the coast of Marmaris, the disaster agency AFAD said.
“In Fethiye, a 14-year-old girl named Afranur Günlü was taken to hospital due to a panic attack, but unfortunately, despite all efforts, she died,” the interior minister said. | BGNES
