Portugal secured a place in the Nations League final after beating Germany 2-1 in the semi-final clash in Munich.
Despite conceding the first goal, the Portuguese played better and created more chances in front of their opponents' goal. In just five minutes, they completed a comeback, with captain Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the winning goal, his 137th for his country.
The first half did not offer much excitement, but after the break, the game picked up pace. Germany took the lead in the 48th minute with a header from Florian Wirtz after a cross from Kimmich. The Portuguese claimed that Voltemade was offside, which affected Ruben Dias' play, but VAR confirmed that the goal was valid.
Portugal coach Roberto Martinez made some successful substitutions, and in the 63rd minute, Francisco Conceição, who came on from the bench, equalized with an individual breakthrough and a precise shot.
Five minutes later, Nuno Mendes was played in on the left by Bruno Fernandes, crossed, and Ronaldo scored into an empty net to seal the final score.
In the final minutes, Ter Stegen distinguished himself with a double save, keeping Germany's hopes alive, but the team was unable to equalize.
Portugal's opponent for the trophy will be determined on Thursday evening when the second semi-final between Spain and France is played. | BGNES, AFP
