Prince Harry Pays Tribute to Elizabeth II, but Question Remains Over Meeting with King Charles

The two have not seen each other since February 2024, when the Prince flew in urgently after learning of the 76-year-old monarch’s diagnosis.

Estranged British Prince Harry visited Windsor Castle to lay a wreath at the grave of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, who died three years ago, AFP reported. He was alone when he entered St. George’s Chapel, where the late Queen, who passed away on September 8, 2022, rests.

Harry, who lives in California and rarely returns to the United Kingdom, arrived for a series of engagements in the coming days. The big question, however, remains whether he will meet with his father, King Charles III, who is undergoing cancer treatment, against the backdrop of ongoing family tensions. The two have not seen each other since February 2024, when the Prince flew in urgently after learning of the 76-year-old monarch’s diagnosis.

During his visit, Harry will attend a ceremony of the charity WellChild in London, of which he has been patron for 17 years. He will deliver a speech and present an award to an “inspiring child” aged between four and six. He will then travel to Nottingham, where he will visit a community recording studio and announce a donation to the “Children in Need” campaign supporting disadvantaged children.

The Prince stepped back from his official royal duties in 2020, which sparked open confrontation, particularly with his brother and heir to the throne, Prince William, who at the same time had an engagement outside London. Meanwhile, Charles spent the weekend in Scotland.

In an interview in May, Harry admitted that he “would like reconciliation” with his family, adding that he “doesn’t know how much more time he has left with his father.” | BGNES
