Violence and riots erupted in central Athens on Saturday after a rally in Syntagma Square to mark the conclusion of the investigation into the Tempe train crash.

According to police, a group of people threw Molotov cocktails near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, prompting police to use tear gas and stun grenades.

Two people were arrested: a 20-year-old man found with five incendiary devices, a face mask and gloves, and a 17-year-old man carrying a bus crash hammer.

Earlier, before the main protest began, authorities had already made 20 temporary arrests as part of ongoing checks. I Kathimerini, BGNES
