Slovenia recorded a second consecutive loss in Group D of EuroBasket 2025, which is being held in Cyprus, Finland, Poland and Latvia. In the Polish city of Katowice, the Slovenians lost to France with 95:103.
A strong game for Slovenia was played by LA Lakers star Luka Doncic, who came close to a triple-double - 39 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. Edo Muric and Klemen Prepelic scored 16 and 15 points respectively, but they were not enough for the victory.
For the French, Sylvain Francisco was above everyone with 32 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four more basketball players of the team scored 10 or more points - Alex Sarr and Zaccharie Risacher (12 each), Bilal Coulibaly (13) and Elie Okobo (14).
In the group standings, France is the leader with four points - the same number as one of the hosts Poland. Israel and Belgium have three points each, Slovenia and Iceland - with two points each, outside the four that qualify for the Round of 16.
The reigning champions from Spain, meanwhile, decisively defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 88:67 in Group C for their first win at the tournament.
Turkey, Serbia, Germany and Finland have already qualified for the Round of 16.
The final phase of EuroBasket 2025 will be held in the Latvian capital Riga between September 6-14. | BGNES
