Legendary Jon Jones has surprisingly ended his competitive career. UFC CEO Dana White revealed that Jones informed the promoter of his decision to retire on Friday.

The UFC was working on organizing a heavyweight title unification fight between Jones and interim champion Tom Aspinall, but after Jones' sudden withdrawal - his opponent is now the undisputed champion. Thus, the organization now has to schedule the first match in which Aspinall will defend his title.

Jones otherwise confirmed the announcement with a post on social networks, in which he said that "this decision comes after a lot of thought." He last stepped into the octagon in November 2024 at UFC 309, when he defeated Stipe Miocic. | BGNES
