World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler is in prime position to attack a third career Major title after taking the lead in the overall standings during a weather-hit third round of the PGA Championship.
Scheffler entered the weekend three strokes behind surprise leader Jhonattan Vegas and fell further behind after an opening bogey. That came after a three-and-a-half-hour delay due to thunderstorms. The American has since recovered and is now three strokes ahead. The two-time Major champion made an eagle and three birdies in his final five holes for a round of 65.
Scheffler's three-stroke lead is over Sweden's Alex Noren. The Scandinavian is one stroke ahead of J.T. Poston and Davis Riley.
Another two-time Major champion - John Ram, shares fourth position with Vegas and Korean Kim Si-woo. Bryson DeChambeau is at -5 under par, while Masters winner Rory McIlroy's chances of another Major triumph ended after a round of one over 72. | BGNES
