Usyk to face Dubois in Wembley rematch on July 19

Their first encounter finished with a 9th round win for the Ukrainian.

Oleksandr Usyk's rematch with Daniel Dubois for the undisputed world heavyweight title will take place on Saturday, July 19, at Wembley.

Dubois challenged Usyk in 2023, losing in nine rounds. He dropped the Ukrainian down to the canvas but the action was ruled illegal. Now the Briton has a chance to get his revenge.

Usyk beat Tyson Fury in May last year to become the first undisputed world champion in 25 years, but his rematch with Fury meant he could not make a mandatory IBF title defence against Dubois. He vacated the belt and the Briton was promoted from interim to world champion. Dubois defended his title after knocking out Anthony Joshua in September. He was scheduled to fight Joseph Parker in February, but he fell ill and the fight was canceled.

"I thank God for the opportunity to fight for the undisputed world title once again. Thank you, Daniel, for taking care of my IBF belt - now I want it back", said Usyk, who holds the WBC, WBA and WBO belts. The Ukrainian has been ordered to make a mandatory defense of his WBO belt against Parker, while Dereck Chisora is the mandatory challenger for Dubois. However, a fight for the undisputed world title takes priority over a mandatory defense because it is a unification of belts.

"This is the fight I wanted and now I get the chance to get revenge on Oleksandr Usyk. I should have won the first fight, but the referee stopped me. This time, however, I will not make a mistake in front of my people at the National Stadium in my hometown. I am a better and more dangerous boxer now and Usyk will understand it up close on July 19. I want to thank my promoter Frank, who made this fight possible. I intend to repay him by becoming the undisputed world heavyweight champion", said Dubois.

The Briton has a record of 22-2 (21 by knockout), and in addition to Usyk, he also has a defeat to Joe Joyce. Usyk, for his part, remains undefeated in the professional ring - 23 wins from 23 matches, 14 by knockout. | BGNES
