British rock legends Oasis kicked off their long-awaited world tour in Cardiff, delighting fans with a comeback that few thought possible after their split nearly 16 years ago.
The Manchester rockers, who rose to fame in the mid-1990s during the Britpop era, performed a string of their greatest hits to a crowd of 74,000 in the Welsh capital, leaving them in ecstasy.
"It was fantastic — everything we dreamed of. Great songs, no nonsense. It was like a hit parade," said 37-year-old Sebastian Wirtz from Denmark.
Lead singer Liam Gallagher told the crowd gathered at Principality Stadium that "it's been too long" as he led the two-hour show with classics such as "Champagne Supernova," "Stand By Me," and "Supersonic."
The Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, who were once at odds, sang "Roll With It" together.
The band thanked their fans for "putting up with us over the years" as they wrapped up the first night of their Oasis Live '25 tour.
They will play a second night in Cardiff on July 5, kicking off 41 concerts around the world, including five concerts in their hometown of Manchester, starting on July 11.
This will be followed by sold-out concerts in the United Kingdom and Ireland at Wembley Stadium in London, Murrayfield in Edinburgh, and Croke Park in Dublin, before visiting other countries.
The band's concerts in the 1990s were legendary, but the chance to see them on stage again was long considered unlikely after one of the most bitter breakups in music history. | BGNES
