Cate Blanchett wants to retire at 55

"When I say this, my family looks at me every time surprised, but I'm serious: I'm really thinking of stopping acting! There are so many things I want to do in my life."

Overactive actress Cate Blanchett has revealed she wants to retire from film. Starring in several films this year, it seems retirement is not yet on the agenda.

Starring in over seventy films, Blanchett's career is an example of success for many actresses in Hollywood. In an interview with Radio Times, the 55-year-old star spoke of her desire to retire soon, "When I say this, my family looks at me every time surprised, but I'm serious: I'm really thinking of stopping acting! There are so many things I want to do in my life."

Since 1997 she has been married to playwright Andrew Upton with whom she has three sons, Dashiell (23), Roman (20), Ignatius (17) and adopted daughter Edith (10). This extended family has long lived in the couple's native Australia, but also owns a property in Crowborough, England.

The spy thriller Black Bag, starring her, is currently in cinemas. She will soon be in the cast of Jim Jarmusch's fourteenth feature film, Father, Mother, Sister, Brother. A highly anticipated project that also stars Vicki Cripps, Adam Driver and Charlotte Rampling. Apparently Blanchett doesn't plan to retire this year. | BGNES
