Nawrocki: Putin is ready to attack other countries after Ukraine

"We do not believe in Vladimir Putin's good intentions," Navrotski said at a press conference with Finnish President Alexander Stubb in Helsinki.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to attack other countries after his decision to start the conflict in Ukraine.

This warning was issued by Polish President Karol Nawrocki, AFP reported.

"We do not believe in Vladimir Putin's good intentions," Navrotski said at a press conference with Finnish President Alexander Stubb in Helsinki.

Poland and Finland border Russia, and both NATO member states were alarmed by Moscow's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

"While we are waiting, of course, for long-term peace, lasting peace, which is necessary for our regions, we believe that Vladimir Putin is ready to attack other countries," the newly elected Polish president said.

"That is why we are developing our armed forces, our partnerships and our alliances," he added, without specifying any particular measures.

Nawrocki said that the "security architecture" in the entire region has changed and that US President Donald Trump is "the only leader of the free world" who can force Putin to negotiate.

Last week, Trump offered to send more troops to Poland when he welcomed his Polish counterpart to the White House with a military parade.

Meanwhile, Stubb has been in regular contact with Trump in recent months, while European powers are pushing for an end to the war in Ukraine.

"We are trying to explain that Putin cannot be trusted, that Putin is applying his usual delaying tactics," the Finnish president said.

The warnings echo similar concerns expressed by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. On September 8, he said that "Putin's imperialist plan will not end with the conquest of Ukraine," but rather will only be the beginning. | BGNES
