Djokovic coasts past Norrie for his 100th Roland Garros victory

The Serbian joins 14-time champion Rafael Nadal who holds the record with 112 wins in the main draw in Paris.

Novak Djokovic has qualified for the quarterfinals of Roland Garros. The three-time French Open champion achieved his 100th victory in the main draw of the tournament, after defeating Cameron Norrie 6-2, 6-3, 6-2. The match lasted two hours and 15 minutes.

The 6th seeded player only had difficulties in the second set, when his British opponent pulled out an early break, which he was unable to hold. Nole made seven breaks, allowing only two on his own serve. This was his fourth consecutive success in Paris without losing a set, qualifying for his 16th consecutive and 19th overall Roland Garros quarterfinal.

For the 38-year-old Serb this is the 100th victory in the main draw of the Grand Slam tournament. The record holder is 14-time champion Nadal with 112. Djokovic will play in the last eight of this year's Roland Garros with last year's finalist Alexander Zverev. The German did not spend much time on the court - less than an hour before dismissing Tallon Griekspoor from the Netherlands with a score of 6-4, 3-0 in his favor.

Djokovic leads 8-5 in their rivalry, but lost the latter to Zverev in the semifinals of the Australian Open, when he was forced to retire after a tiebreak in the first set. | BGNES
