Norway is the first quarter-finalist of the Women's European Championship

They will play the runner-up in Group B for a last four spot.

Norway is the first team to seal its place in the quarter-finals of the Women's European Championship in Switzerland. This happened after Switzerland beat Iceland 2:0 and the Norwegians' earlier 2:1 victory over Finland.

In Sion, an own goal by Eva Nyström gave Norway the lead in the 3rd minute. Oona Sevenius equalized shortly after the half-hour mark. Caroline Graham Hansen brought the Norwegians their second consecutive victory with a goal in the 84th minute.

A little later in the evening, the hosts beat Iceland 2:0 with goals from Geraldine Reuteler and Alayah Pilgrim. This automatically qualified Norway for the quarter-finals, where they will face the runner-up from Group B, which includes Spain, Italy, Belgium and Portugal.

Finland and Switzerland will determine the second team in the last eight from Group A in a direct clash on July 10 in Geneva. | BGNES
